Every Gift Matters

Your gift is more than a donation—it is an investment in a sisterhood that acts, a community that heals, and a future where Alzheimer's disease is a thing of the past. You can support us in the following ways.

Heart to Heart Club

Sigma Kappa Foundation is proud to establish the Heart to Heart Club for alumnae who support their sisters with a recurring gift. These donors keep the heart of Sigma Kappa beating strong all year long.

Heart to Heart Sisters

  • Maximize their impact with monthly or quarterly gifts through credit card or ACH.
  • Provide essential, ongoing funds for personal growth and leadership programming, and emergency grants for alumnae and collegians.
  • Conveniently automate giving in more manageable amounts.
  • Recognized on the private side of the Sigma Kappa website.
  • Receive exclusive benefits: welcome gift, H2H newsletter, invite to local Foundation events

Members who are 72 or older can benefit by donating their Individual Retirement Account RMDs to a qualified charitable organization; it’s a win/win for the donor and the organization.  Generally, distributions are counted as taxable income, but by donating them directly to the charitable organization, they are excluded from personal income. Please consult your tax professional for advice and then contact  Lisa Swiontek, chief executive officer, to coordinate the donation of funds.

Endowment gifts provide a lasting source of support for Sigma Kappa and its members. By creating an endowment, you can pay tribute to a loved one or honor your own Sigma Kappa experience. These funds are managed by the Foundation and require a minimum amount, currently $25,000 to establish.

Many chapters have established endowments.  If your chapter has an established fund, you can contribute directly to that fund; however, if an endowment has not been created, we can help establish one.

There are several types of scholarships and grants you may create as an endowed fund. Examples include:

  • Academic scholarships for members
  • Funding for educational leadership programming
  • Emergency grants for members

For additional information contact  Lisa Swiontek, chief executive officer.

Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms have fundraising features which allow users to organize fundraisers to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  These platforms do not provide donor information to the beneficiary (neither about the host nor the supporters).  In an effort that we may recognize your contribution, we ask that if you set up a fundraiser, please notify the Foundation at  foundation@sigmakappa.org.

Gifts may be made in honor or memory of a sister, family member or loved one.

Matching Gifts

Corporate philanthropy programs are readily available resources that can maximize the power of your gift to our Foundation. The Sigma Kappa Foundation partners with Double The Donation to make it easier for you to apply for your company's corporate matching gifts program to match your Foundation gifts. Check to see if your employer offers a matching gift program for monetary gifts or volunteer hours. If you do not see your company name in the list, please contact your employer to inquire if your gift or volunteer time is eligible for their matching gift program.
