Shape Tomorrow Today

Sigma Kappas from around the globe, 1874 Minutes of Giving is our annual giving event to raise money for the Sigma Kappa Foundation and all of their programs. That means scholarships, emergency grants, leadership opportunities, mental health programs and support for our philanthropies. The PULSE that makes our sorority strong.

This year, we celebrate 150 years of Sigma Kappa with a special edition of 1874 Minutes of Giving. That’s 150 hours to make a difference, enhance the lives of others and give back to the sorority that has given us so much.

Any gift that is meaningful to you will make an impact in the next 150 years.

Your Impact

Carly’s journey has been full of setbacks including her parents’ divorce, a horrific family boating accident and her father’s rare and highly aggressive cancer diagnosis, but she is determined to keep going. Because of these unfortunate events, her family has had to prioritize her father’s health over his business, resulting in significant financial strain. Carly reached out to the Foundation and requested assistance from the Collegiate Emergency Grant fund to help pay for her room and board.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has generously donated to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in support of the Collegiate Emergency Grant Fund. Your contributions have played a vital role in empowering me during this time of need. My membership in Sigma Kappa has profoundly shaped my life journey, helping me become the strong, confident woman I am today. As the current Vice President of Recruitment for my chapter, it is a great honor to represent our values and mission. I am committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all potential new members, ensuring they experience the transformative power of sisterhood. Thank you once again for your support, which enables me to continue being a dedicated member of Sigma Kappa and a student at Marquette University.”

- Carly RingelstenKappa Nu, Marquette University, Collegiate Emergency Grant Recipient 2024

Taylor and her father were diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, a neurodegenerative disease that presents as a combination of Alzheimer's, ALS and Parkinson's, all in one. She is the president of her chapter, a caregiver to her father, who is in his last stages of life, and to her two brothers who are in high school. She is going to school full time and working night shifts as a nursing student. She was awarded a Collegiate Emergency Grant that covered her final room and board payment.

“Sigma Kappa has given me more than I could have ever imagined. In a time in my life where I was struggling, I was surrounded by love, support and kindness and truthfully found a forever home. Receiving support from not only my local chapter, but also from the Sigma Kappa Foundation has allowed me to stay fully immersed in my chapter and be able to give back to Sigma Kappa all that it has given me. I have never been prouder to be a Sigma Kappa and live One Heart, One Way.”

- Taylor Ivers, Kappa Xi, University of Nevada, Reno, Collegiate Emergency Grant Recipient 2024

“Every bit that I have put into Sigma Kappa has been given right back to me in friendship, personal growth, and love. I strive to be balanced just as Sigma Kappa wants me to be, and this scholarship will truly help take the burden of having to work off my plate and allow me to be the most balanced version of myself. I hope that one day I will be able to give back to Sigma Kappa collegians as you have to me.”

-Skylar Brackett, Gamma Lambda, East Tennessee State University

“Sigma Kappa remains the reason I've continued to succeed after graduating. I remain connected to the values I gained from Sigma Kappa undergrad. Careerhouse was a wonderful tool to show the power of self-awareness and strategic thinking and planning.”
